Last Merit Badge Round Up
Friday Aaron was back at work. The kids had school, and I was home with the girls. Michelle was cute as always and I took a few pictures.
I spent some time out in the garden and then cleaning up in the house, playing with the girls etc. I picked up David from track, and then we had dinner and headed over to the church for game night. Apparently it wasn't well advertised (we didn't send out a mid-week reminder), we were the only ones that showed up. But we still had fun! Amy wanted to play Flip Out! David was disappointed and ended up playing basketball most of the evening. Melanie and Michelle played in the nursery, and Amy joined them.
We cleaned up early and headed home.
Saturday started early. Aaron took the boys to the church for the last merit badge round up. He went to a few yard sales while he was out, but didn't find much. So at home we did chores, cleaning, weeding, and playing.
I wish I could remember what else we did that day. I remember that Aaron ran some errands and picked up some strawberry plants. When we were weeding I found that several of the strawberry plants were not producing, so I pulled them up and there was a large bare spot. So I was glad to have more plants to replace them.
David and Timothy didn't get back until late, as their ride home had to run some errands first. Timothy ended up coming home with a lilac plant! David finished one more merit badge - cooking. So he has three partials he has to finish. Then he'll be done with the required ones and have enough for his eagle. I really hope he'll be able to find a project and finish it by the end of the summer.
After dinner, Aaron and David went to the church for an interview. Now that David is 14 he will be joining the Teacher's Quorum. That requires an interview with the Bishop. Aaron wanted it to be as formal as everyone else's interview, so they dressed up and went to the church. It was great to hear that Aaron enjoyed the interview, and felt like David was in a good place, and said we've done a good job raising him. Not that he's perfect, or that we are perfect, but he's doing good things, and has a good perspective on things.
All I remember is that David woke up feeling awful. He had a fever, sore throat and headache, We were worried it was strep throat. He was supposed to be ordained a teacher that day, so he was a little disappointed. He stayed home, and the rest of us went to church.
Amy was supposed to give a talk in Primary, she really didn't want to do it. So I wrote it for her, hoping that she would read it. I enjoyed church. I was trying to figure out who could hold Michelle while I gave the prayer, but then I realized it was just a prayer, and I could hold her while I said the prayer. It went just fine. The talks were great. Michelle fell asleep at the end of sacrament meeting. So I enjoyed Sunday School, and she was pretty good after she woke up.
I handed Michelle off to Aaron and sat in Primary until it was time for Amy's talk. I was pleasantly surprised that Amy didn't hesitate when it was her turn. She read the talk, and only stopped when she couldn't read what I wrote. I don't think she looked up at all, but she gave her talk. Then I went back over to Young Women's. They were finishing up opening exercises and they sang "happy birthday" to me and I got a little fruit tart - yum! My lesson went well (about why we need the Book of Mormon), and then it was time to go home.
We had a quick lunch when we got home. I could tell David still didn't feel well. He didn't want to eat lunch, not even water. Poor thing. I don't remember much else about the day. I know we had dinner and FHE. David was feeling better by then, and it didn't look like he had strep throat. Michelle was upstairs with Aaron while I was cleaning up the kitchen. She looked so cute as she was getting tired and almost falling asleep.
Of course when I picked her up and tried the put her in the crib she woke up and it took a while to get her to sleep.
everything goes in the mouth

Real Birthday Celebration
Thursday I took the kids to school. Then I got to work on cleaning up the house, which I had neglected while Aaron was away. I had asked David what kind of cake he wanted for his birthday, and he said chocolate, but not just any chocolate, the All American Chocolate Cake from Costco. I really did not want to make the drive just to pick up the cake. I even looked up copy cat recipes, but none of them looked like it would work. Lucky for me Aaron said he would stop by Costco on his way home from the airport.
I took these pictures because I saw two little birds building a nest inside the old wine barrel. I'm not sure you can even see the birds in the picture, but I was sure if I went closer they would fly away.
Aaron called me on his way home from the airport. There was a storm rolling in. The temperatures dropped about 15 degrees, and it got cloudy and dark. It was raining by the time Aaron got home. It was pouring when the kids got off the bus, so Aaron drove down and picked them up.
After school the kids wrapped presents for David, and Amy thought it would be funny to wrap Michelle up in the sherpa sheep.
Aaron also had the kids wrap presents for me. We started working on dinner, and then Aaron picked up David from track. It was time to celebrate our birthdays. David opened presents first.
While dinner was being prepared I went outside and saw how the garden was growing
I took some pictures of Michelle

I opened presents after that, but no pictures were taken. Aaron got me a petunia hanging basket, two 1 liter carafes, Blu-Ray Stars Wars: The Force Awakens, and some chocolates. The kids got me some larger cookie scoops - really good for muffins or cupcakes, and more chocolate. I think I'm missing something...While dinner was being prepared I went outside and saw how the garden was growing
peas

kohlrabi
chard

Michelle was cute at dinner time
Then it was time for cake and ice cream. Aaron actually put 39 candles on my cake!
I missed a couple
Then we removed a few candles (25 to be exact) and then it was David's turn
That's about it for our birthday celebration!
