Community Days 2017

Saturday was Community Days. After breakfast and chores we headed out. Timothy had to be at the middle school at 10:00, so Aaron left at 9:30, and snagged some spots, and I dropped Timothy off just before 10, and found Aaron. It was actually a little chilly that morning. The girls had fun on this stadium blanket - the ones that are like a tarp on the bottom to they are easy to shake off and wetness doesn't soak through.

Michelle liked being in the stroller, and when we got there she wanted out, and buckled the straps together.
We had lots of time to spare

Michelle kept standing up in the stroller

As we sat around waiting we heard people talking and realized that the power was out downtown. The sign and the grocery store and the civic center weren't on, and none of the rides were working. We watched as they hauled a couple of huge generators toward the park.

police cars - they didn't have as many sirens this year

The preschool many friends have used. Victoria and Leo are on the float and Andy is walking next to it.

I loved this float!

some balloons got away

always lots of tractors

It always end with horses

After the parade Aaron quickly went home to change and then went to the church. We walked over to the carnival. Eventually Timothy found us as he walked back from the middle school. We all ate some lunch: hot dog, corn dogs, hamburgers. David just wanted chips and a drink from the gas station, but they had no power. So he went to the grocery store. He was able to purchase things, but they had to do it manually! We didn't do much else. We headed home.

Soon after I took Amy over to her birthday party. The location got changed from the park to her home. I thought it was because of the threat of rain, but someone else had staked out the pavilion. I had changed for the wedding. I took Michelle with me. By the time I got there, there were no open seats. They put out a few more chairs. I sat with Paige and Jacob.
After the wedding I took Michelle home, and then eventually picked up Amy from her birthday party.

That evening after dinner Aaron took the three middle kids to the fishing pond. It had just been stocked for the fishing derby as part of community days.

Melanie was pleased with her fish!

I don't know why this one is sideways

When they got home it was time for quick baths and showers, and then bed time.
